Solar Decathlon Africa Design Competition 2024
Young African innovators have the opportunity to participate in the Solar Decathlon Africa Design Competition 2024, where they can showcase their creativity, connect with like-minded individuals, and make a positive impact on Africa’s built environment. The deadline for applications is February 29, and candidates must submit their initial designs by March 18.

The U.S. Mission in Nigeria, in collaboration with IRESEN (Morocco’s renewable energy institute) and the U.S. Department of Energy, is hosting the Solar Decathlon Africa Design Competition 2024. This competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students in Nigeria who are passionate about designing residential and commercial buildings powered by renewable energy.

Collegiate teams of undergraduate and/or graduate students worldwide, with a focus on architecture, engineering, construction management, and related fields, are encouraged by the U.S. Embassy to participate in the Solar Decathlon Africa Design Competition. Each team must have a faculty advisor guiding them throughout the competition.

Application closing date: February 29th 2024
The finalist teams will present their final designs to a panel of expert jurors at the competition, scheduled to take place in Ben Guerir, Morocco on June 6.
