About
The SAPS offers career opportunities in various fields. Joining the SAPS allows you to pursue a career as either a police official or a civilian employee. Police officials are appointed according to the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act No 68 of 1995), while civilian employees are hired under the Public Service Act, 1994 (Act No 103 of 1994). Police officials are primarily involved in preventing, combating, or investigating crime, while other personnel perform support functions.
Generic Requirements:
- Be a South African citizen aged between 18 and 35
- Must possess a National Senior Certificate or equivalent (NCV L4)
- Must have no prior criminal convictions or pending cases
- Applicants must be unemployed, have never been employed in the advertised post’s field, and have not previously participated in a relevant internship programme
- Applicants must reside in the provinces where the post is advertised
- Applicants can apply for a maximum of three (3) positions by completing separate application forms for each post reference number
