Job Title: Peer Support Worker

Wage: $24.60/Hour
Lifewise is seeking a Peer Supporter to join our team in Corner Brook, NL. Lifewise is the only non-profit provincial organization created by and for individuals living with mental health and addictions issues. Our mission is to inspire hope for recovery and improve the quality of life for individuals living with mental health and addictions issues and their supporters. Please note that this position will be working directly as a member of the Opioid Treatment Team (OTT) and location of the candidate is flexible between Corner Brook and Stephenville office locations.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a high ability to engage with a range of diverse populations, including individuals living with serious and persistent mental health and addictions issues. Peer Supporters deliver front line services in peer support, public education, and policy consultation in a variety of environments and modalities. Job duties and schedule will be determined by the OTT Teams with support from Lifewise.
Other duties and responsibilities of the Peer Support Worker include regular peer support within current and future programs of the Opioid Treatment Hubs, interaction with peers, professionals, and community partners to enhance awareness of peer support in the recovery journey, compiling, maintaining and reporting on monthly and quarterly program statistics, and attending regular program meetings to share pertinent information and maintain effective communication. Demonstrated experience in working with and supporting others, as well as proficiency in computer skills, a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and the willingness to share their own lived experience with addictions or mental health issues is required.
Qualifications and Experience
Personal lived experience with (and willingness to share), experience working with and enjoyment from supporting others, hold valid Class 5 driver’s license (unrestricted) with regular access to personal vehicle required for this position
Work Hours: Full-time position, weekly hours may vary. Shifts occur 7 days a week, with the majority of shifts occurring between 8:00 am – 12:00 am. Flexibility in work hours is required to accommodate the fast-paced, flexible community environment.
