Position Details:
Job Title: Farm Worker
Location: British Columbia
Shift: Morning, Night, Overnight
Wage: $20.00 per hour
The Farm Worker will be responsible for performing twice daily milking and feeding of the dairy herd or fieldwork tasks. This position may require scheduling duties on weekends and holidays, as well as varying daily responsibilities.
Organizational Status
The Farm Worker will work alongside other team members under the general supervision of the Manager.
Responsibilities:
A. Milking :
- Milks 235 cows twice daily
- Assures milk quality and sanitation
- Assists with calving and cow disorders
- Monitors and maintains milking equipment
B. Animal Husbandry
- Maintains animals according to guidelines
- Feeds rations, performs estrus detection, and more
Consequence of Error / Judgement
Inappropriate care could lead to loss of income and compromise research projects. Adequate maintenance is crucial for safety and program integrity.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Grade 12 Education, Diploma in relevant field, 1 year of experience
