Health Care Aide Job Opportunity in High Level, AB

AHS is currently seeking a Health Care Aide for morning, night, and overnight shifts in High Level, AB. The wage for this position is $27.60 per hour and in addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement is also available for permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel, eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235.

Responsibilities of a Health Care Aide

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in a home, community, or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum are eligible for this position. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Skills and qualities that are important for a Care Aide (also known as a Healthcare Aide or Nursing Assistant) include: compassion and empathy, effective communication, personal care skills, observation and reporting, and empathy and patience.
