About YIPP
The Young Insurance Professionals Programme (YIPP) is a FREE online training program developed by the London School of Insurance and Africa Re. Its main objective is to promote the growth and development of the insurance and reinsurance industry in Africa. This program serves as a starting point for individuals who aspire to have an exciting career in the field.
The YIPP trainees will gain valuable knowledge and competencies through a combination of on-the-job experience and a dedicated online training program. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to undergo a training program on an annual basis, which includes a “stretch/learning assignment” to enhance their practical skills.
At the end of the program, participants will have a solid understanding of the reinsurance industry, strong leadership skills, and a constructive approach to competition. This program aims to improve professionalism and career development in the African reinsurance market.
Assessment and Feedback
Throughout the program, evaluation exercises and tests will be conducted to enhance the understanding of concepts, procedures, and principles related to the insurance and reinsurance industry.

Minimum Requirements for Eligibility
- Citizen of a member state of Africa Re
- Maximum 35 years of age
- Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent
- Relevant work experience in an insurance or reinsurance company, insurance broking firm, or related field
- Access to the internet
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and/or French
Application Requirements
Qualified young African Insurance Professionals working in insurance or reinsurance companies, brokerage firms, supervisory authorities, or related organizations are encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates must submit an online application between October 01, 2023, and January 14, 2024. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Required documents include a curriculum vitae, cover letter, and reference forms. Interviews may be conducted as part of the assessment process.
