Job Title: Youth Worker

Location: Ontario

Shift: Morning, Night, Overnight

Wage: $20.00 per hour

The role of a Youth Worker involves addressing the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students within the school community and with their families. A crucial aspect of this position is the ability to establish and model positive relationships while fostering rapport within the school environment. The work focuses on promoting mental health at school and implementing programs that enhance student well-being, based on the identified needs of students, parents, staff, and external agencies.

Within the role, the Youth Worker provides support to individuals, groups, or classrooms to help develop skills and strategies that facilitate engagement in the learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • A graduate of the Child and Youth Care Program, Behavioral Psychology, or Behavioral Science;
  • Possession of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology or Psychology with relevant work experience;
  • Two to three years of experience with children and families, preferably in an educational setting;
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License;
  • Strong interpersonal and social skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, diverse caseloads, and work independently;
  • Team player with leadership qualities;
  • Skills in advocacy, mediation, and conflict resolution;
  • Comfort with working in confidential environments;
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in relevant software;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies;
  • Sensitivity in demanding situations;
  • Knowledge of community resources and referral processes;

  • Violence Threat Risk Assessment Level 1
