Lagos State Fellowship Program Overview
The Lagos State Fellowship Program is a fully funded opportunity that spans one year and provides young Nigerians with non-partisan, meritocratic leadership and employment opportunities to make a positive impact on their generation.
Participants in the program will gain firsthand experience in the governance process at a State government level. They will engage in round table discussions with esteemed leaders from both the public and private sectors, as well as participate in domestic and international policy trips.
The Lateef Jakande Fellowship Program, initiated by Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, aims to provide life-changing and meritocratic opportunities to young Nigerians seeking to effect change in society.
Program Objectives and Benefits
The fellowship’s core objective is to nurture future leaders by equipping them with the necessary skills to positively influence public service. The program also aims to instill the values of purposeful leadership through direct mentoring and on-the-job training.
Program Benefits
The Academy offers a one-year Fellowship program with various benefits, including:
- Work Experience: Participants will shadow Lagos State Cabinet members on a rotational basis after 6 months into the program.
- Leadership Development: Features activities like Brown-Bag Series, Fireside Chat, Leadership Seminar, Personalized Coaching, and Continuous multi-source feedback.
- Community Service: Fellows will undertake a high-impact leadership project aimed at transforming their community, with a major people-centered project annually.
- Fellowship Network: Participants will become part of an alumni network with opportunities for peer-to-peer coaching and learning, fostering national unity and social consciousness.
