House of Representatives Raises Petition Regarding Bsc/HND Dichotomy in the Military

The House of Representatives recently discussed a petition introduced by Hon. Akin Rotimi regarding complaints from military officers. Despite the abolition of the Bsc./HND dichotomy, these officers claim they are still facing biased treatment in terms of promotion exercises.

Another petition was presented by Hon. Kelechi Nwogu on behalf of a complainant whose 2-year-old son was killed and second son seriously injured by officers of the NDLEA.

Both petitions have been referred to the House committee on Public Petitions for further investigation and resolution.

Matters of Urgent Public Importance:

During the proceeding, Hon. Adamu Tanko moved a motion to address the urgent outbreak of anthrax, which was seconded by Hon. Bashir Umar. The motion was adopted and referred to the House Committee on Health Services for further action.

Additionally, various other bills were presented during the House of Representatives plenary on July 18, 2023.
